Clean Rooms

Clean Room 1

This ISO 7 category clean room is a multipurpose room installed at the building basement devoted, mainly, to space hardware manipulation according to ECSS quality standards and long term storage of Engineering Models and Flight hardware. Particle counts, temperature and humidity are monitored and registered 24/7.

The room is also equipped with Oxygen displacement detectors for safety purposes as the room is also used for handling equipment that requires semi-continuous nitrogen venting or flushing.

Equipment

The laboratory is equipped with a laminar flux cabinet which ensures ISO 5 conditions within its working space. Particle counts within the cabinet is also monitored and registered continuously during the whole year.

This facility is multipurpose but it is mainly devoted for working with components which are particularly sensitive to contamination (such as optics components) or extremely difficult to clean at a later stage (such as painted space hardware).

Clean room 2

This facility is an ISO 8 category clean room. Particle counts, temperature and humidity are monitored and registered 24/7. The main purpose for this facility is to manipulate and study meteorite samples.

Equipment

The room is equipped with a Microscope ZEISS Axio Scope A1.
