Serra d'Or magazine recently announced the names of the winners of the 58th edition of the Crítica Awards at an event at the Espai Endesa in Barcelona on April 3rd, 2024. Among the winners, there is Guillem Anglada-Escudé, a researcher from the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) and the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC).

The 2024 Serra d’Or Youth Crítica Award in the field of Knowledge has been awarded to A city on Mars, a book illustrated by Eduard Altarriba and written by scientists such as Sheddad Kaid-Salah Ferrón, physicist and communicator; Guillem Anglada-Escudé, astrophysicist specialised in exoplanets; and Miquel Sureda Anfres, physicist and aerospace engineer.

Edited by Juventud publishing house, the book A city on Mars illustrates the characteristics of the red planet, while contemplating what life would be like there: how the journeys from Earth would be, as well as food, housing, and a city model.

The book, available in Spanish and Catalan, explains how Nüwa would be like, a city designed by the team of the international Sustainable Offworld Network (SONet), composed by professionals from different fields. The Nüwa project was among the ten finalist proposals in The Mars Society's international Mars City State Design competition in 2020.
