International Day of Women and Girls in Science at ICE

To commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) will foster an initiative presenting some of the female researchers at the centre aiming at awaking scientific calling.

The online event called #HowItAllStarted will feature short talks by our researchers Vanessa Graber, Estel Cardellach, Alice Borghese, Clara Dehman and Simranpreet Kaur.

Women in Science Wikimarathon

Besides this action, ICE joined the Viquimarató, an outreach initiative coordinated by Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB) and organised with Espai Viquidones from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). It will be an online event on February 8, from 17 to 19 h. This activity seeks to close the gender gap in Wikipedia by editing wikipedia posts, translating or improving pages with female contributions to science. Registration here.

#100tífiques 

#100tífiques – an initiative of the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), with the collaboration of the Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

Seeking to make visible and highlight the role of women in science and technology, this action connects schools throughout the country with female researchers and technologists from the enterprise, research centres and Catalan universities.

  • February 11: Margarita Hernanz (ICE-CSIC and IEEC) will give a talk at the Escorial Vic school.
  • February 11: Alice Borghese (ICE-CSIC) will give a talk at a school in Barcelona.

Chatea con una astrónoma

Chatea con una astrónoma – organised by the Women and Astronomy Commission of the Spanish Astronomy Society (SEA)

For 12 hours non-stop, anyone can easily connect online to chat privately with a female astrophysicist. ICE-CSIC and IEEC researcher Margarita Hernanz will participate.
