Investigator of various projects—including a top rated Consolider

(group project)—and team leader of both a Consolider-Ingenio

2010 (CPAN) and a European Union project (CASIMIR). Has been

awarded an Honorary Professorship from Tomsk TSPU University (2010),

Russia. He is also a recipient of the Gold Medal of TSPU University 

and of a Certificate in Recognition of Extraordinary Services (2018). 

Honorary Appointment from TUSUR University, Russia (2017). Two  

prestigious Invitational Fellowships of the Japan Government for  

Excellent Researchers (2016, 2017), and four Distinctions of Merit from  

the National Higher Research Council of Spain (2013, 2016, 2018, 2019).  

Awarded an Honorary Professorship from TUSUR University, Russia (2020).

Distinguished as Professor Ad Honorem by the National Higher  

Research Council of Spain (2020).  


     A special functions expert and a cosmologist, author of

several of the leading references in the fields of Zeta Functions *

and Heat Kernels, and their applications to Theoretical Physics

and Cosmology, and of three influential books published by

Springer Verlag and World Scientific. Catalonia’s top mathe-

matical physicist, according to the Reports issued by the

Institute for Catalan Studies, he confesses to be very proud of his

former students, which list includes Prof. J. Soto, Dr. A. Romeo,

Prof. S. Gómez, Dr. S. Leseduarte, Dr. S.R. Hildebrandt *,

Dr. P. Fosalba, and Prof. E. Gaztañaga, among others.

Several have become first-class scientists in their specialities.
