Collaboration with the Montsec Observatory (OdM)

The OdM (Montsec Observatory) is an observatory located South of the Pyrenees on the Montsec mountain range at 1570 m elevation, and houses the 80-cm Joan Oró telescope (TJO), among other facilities. The TJO is an advanced telescope that operates in a fully robotic mode, i.e., no human intervention except through a portal to submit and retrieve observations. The prime objectives of the TJO are broad and multi-disciplinary, including offering its facilities for astronomical research (through an open international call), carrying out technological developments (as an instrument test bed) and providing specialized services (e.g., Satellite Surveillance and Tracking). The OdM is operated by the IEEC through a contract with the Generalitat de Catalunya. The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) gives in-kind support by providing workspace to the personnel of OdM and by contributing manpower.
