The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) develops new technology to push our research in astronomy, cosmology and Earth observation. We develop the technology for the next generation of ground-based and spaceborne telescopes, and Earth observation missions.

We cover different expertise areas (electronics, software, mechanical engineering and thermal engineering) with our team of 25-30 engineers. The team is organized around our Advanced Engineering Unit that provides technological support to the research groups.

Our eight laboratories are aligned with our technological developments covering our technology areas in electronics, optical systems, clean rooms and high-stability environments, and mechanical prototyping.

Part of our infrastructure and knowledge is also offered to other research centers and industries as services.

Our hardware technology portfolio aims at bringing our technology to other cientific and industrial areas and partners beyond the scientific ecosystem, while our software portfolio mainly offers astronomical software to the scientific community in an open-source basis.
